Clearly not content with one spy thriller in the works – that would be David Leitch's The Coldest City – Charlize Theron is backing a new film, aiming to produce and star in Need To Know.
Universal has bought up the rights to the movie, which will adapt CIA analyst Karen Cleveland's upcoming novel. The focus for the story is on a wife and mother who shares the same job with the novelist. While on duty in the agency, she discovers something while hunting through digital files looking for evidence of a Russian sleeper cell. What she finds puts her life, and those of her friends and family, in danger.
Sounds like something that could work as a vehicle for Theron, and it's a big push for Cleveland, who hasn't yet locked in a publisher for the book; this deal is sure to help that along.
As mentioned above, Theron has The Coldest City due on 11 August. Before that, she'll be seen in Fast & Furious 8, out on 14 April.
