Since it was announced last month that Christopher Nolan has set a new movie at Universal for Summer 2026, the cast list — not to mention our anticipation for the movie — has been getting bigger and buzzier by the day. But with the latest addition to the call sheet for Nolan's next movie, things have ratcheted up another gear and taken a turn for the Furiosa. Oh yes, per Deadline's reporting, Mad Max: Fury Road and Atomic Blonde star — and all-round Hollywood icon — Charlize Theron has just signed on for her first team-up with the Oppenheimer Oscar winning filmmaker.

With the addition of Theron to the cast, we're now up to a magnificent seven names attached to help guide Nolan's upcoming 13th feature. Among the other stars are past Nolan collaborators Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson, as well as new entrants to the British auteur's rogues gallery Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Lupita Nyong'o. Who they'll all be playing in the movie, which Nolan has written himself, remains a mystery — as does the movie itself and its plot. Whispers still abound of period vampire pieces (a fire whose flames have certainly not been fanned less by the casting of Twilight's Edward Cullen and DC's Batman, Pattinson), Blue Thunder riffing 'copter epics, and Insomnia 2: Can't Get No Sleep (we may or may not have made that last one up), but the official word from on high remains that anything you've seen or read is hearsay at best, and flat-out misinformation at worst. So, basically, your guess is as good as ours — and our guess has pretty much just been a new Dracula because we think it'd be pretty neat, honestly.

But in the absence of a plot, a title, a genre, a single character name even, what we do have is word that shooting will begin in early 2025, and that all important IMAX release date — 17 July, 2026. And if the veritable constellation of stars that had already been assembled didn't already have us giddy out of our gourds about Nolan's next blockbuster, then the addition of bona fide badass and Oscar winning powerhouse Theron to the mix most certainly does. Bring. It. On!
