Given her recent past playing a selfish author, an evil queen and a cold executive, it’s been a while since we’ve seen the softer side of Charlize Theron. Universal is looking to bring her back to the side of the angels, however, nabbing a pitch based on Ellen Sherman’s novel Everything Nice as a potential Theron starring role.
Of course the story, which Karen Croner will initially adapt for the screen, may not quite be as fluffy as it first appears.** Everything Nice** tells the story of Michaela, an advertising executive who is fired from her top-notch job at a big-name firm. The only gig she can find is one teaching life skills to teenage girls at a public school, a task for which she is ill suited, since she barely possesses basic social skills herself. Somehow, however, we have a feeling she’ll find a creative way to get through to her pupils.
It’s early days for this one, and Theron is not signed on to star yet. There’s also the small matter of A) finding a director and B) turning the script into something that sounds less like a throwback comedy idea. Theron will next be seen in** A Million Ways To Die In The West**, which arrives here on May 30. She’ll also be seen in Dark Places and, assuming it ever actually comes out, Mad Max: Fury Road.
