If you’re someone who rolls their eyes at the idea of Benedict Cumberbatch taking on every film and genre possible, prepare to wipe one title off your to-boycott list. He’s no longer attached to James Gray’s adventure film The Lost City Of Z. Nope, now Charlie Hunnam will take the lead instead{
Bubbling away in development for a while, the adaptation of David Grann’s popular book once boasted Brad Pitt as the star, but he’s now simply on board to produce via his Plan B company. Hunnam will play Percy Fawcett, who headed into Brazil’s Amazon jungles on a mapping quest in 1925. There, suffering from a nasty case of malaria, he claimed to have discovered a mythical city he called the Lost City of Z.
When his adventurer peers roundly mocked the idea as a fantasy or fraud, Fawcett gathered up his son and one other companion and headed back into the jungle to prove his point. And that’s the last anyone saw of all three... Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller are also attached to star in the film, which will finally kick off shooting this summer.
Hunnam is currently at work on Guy Ritchie’s Knights Of The Round Table: King Arthur and will be seen later this year in Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak, which will creep us all out starting October 16.
