Charlie and the Chocolate Factory sugar-rushed the US box office this weekend and made away with $55.4 million, making it the biggest opening of Johnny Depp's career to date and proving that even a new Harry Potter book couldn't keep audiences away from the Burton, Depp and Dahl dream-team. The second biggest film of the weekend was Wedding Crashers, the Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson comedy from David Dobkin that managed a better-than-hoped for $32.2 million. That's also the biggest opening ever for Wilson or Vaughn, and is a very good total for an R-rated comedy
