Later this year, we’ll be going back to Derry, Maine for another helping of It – the second instalment of Andy Muschietti’s epic Stephen King adaptation, largely following the aged-up Losers’ Gang as they once again battle Pennywise 27 years later. That means a whole new cast, led by James McAvoy as the grown up Bill Denbrough (played by Jaeden Lieberher in the last film), alongside the likes of Jessica Chastain, [Bill Hader](https://www.empireonline.com/people/bill-hader/, and James Ransone. While the film is only five months away, barely anything has been released so far, save for a Last Supper-aping table read shot of the new cast, and a very simple poster.
Now we have our first look at McAvoy in character, shared on Muschietti’s Instagram.
And here are the two Bills, side by side for comparison.
While Chapter Two is expected to mostly revolve around the older cast – the novel tells both timelines simultaneously, which have been split apart for this adaptation – the young cast, also including Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard and Shazam!’s Jack Dylan Grazer, will also reappear. Here’s hoping this first pic is a mere bobbing red balloon, leading into a spooky tunnel filled with a full trailer (and a certain nightmare-clown). It: Chapter Two arrives in UK cinemas on 6 September.
