He's helped save the President of the United States, and now Channing Tatum is becoming the holder occupant of the job. He's signed on to voice George Washington in a new animated movie called America: The Motion Picture.
The Expendables' Dave Callaham has written the script for this one, which has Archer executive producer Matt Thompson stepping up to direct his first film. There are few details about the actual plot around at this stage, though Deadline has learned that it'll be an R-rated revisionist history of the founding of the country.
Netflix has agreed to stump up the cash to get the movie made, establishing it as the company's first animated film. And there's quite the pool of producers helping shepherd it to screens, including Tatum's Free Association partners Peter Kiernan and Reid Carolin, his Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller (alongside their Lord Miller partner Will Allegra) and Thompson's Archer cohort Adam Reed. There's no release date set for the movie yet.
Tatum will next be seen in Logan Lucky, due on 25 August and Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which arrives on 29 September.
