Even as the reaction to them remains mixed, American studios continue to target hits from other countries. MGM has the rights to acclaimed German pic System Crasher and is making a deal for Channing Tatum to star and produce.

The story focuses on a young girl with a traumatic past. Constantly moving from one child-services home to the next because of her aggressive behavior, she’s labeled a "system crasher" and seen as a hopeless cause. That’s until she gets paired with a caring but tough anger-management coach (Tatum, we assume). They form an unlikely bond, and he helps her helps her find peace by reconnecting her with nature and also nurturing her passion for boxing.

Nora Fingscheidt wrote and directed the original, which became a critical and commercial hit, and won various awards. Garret Levitz is writing the new version, which will relocate the story to America. There's no word yet on a director.

Tatum's latest (and directorial debut) Dog, just launched in cinemas this past weekend.
