Aiming to keep working on as many interesting projects as he can, Channing Tatum is now attached to star in and produce another film, this time based on a true story of drug dealers, horses and the FBI called Bloodlines.

Universal has bought the rights to Melissa Del Bosque's upcoming book, which is subtitled The True Story Of A Drug Cartel, The FBI, And The Battle For A Horse-Racing Dynasty. It follows the real-life tale of rookie FBI agent Scott Lawson after he was assigned to the seemingly quite town of Loredo, Texas. His job mostly consists of generating reports about the drug war, which doesn't exactly seem stimulating until he's tipped off about a horse sold for a record price at an Oklahoma auction. The reason for the interest is the buyer: Miguel Trevino, one of the leaders of brutal Mexican cartel the Zetas. With a much more dangerous potential case on his hands, Lawson teamed up with more experienced colleague Alma Perez, and they discovered the chance to infiltrate as it laundered drug money through American quarter horse racing.

Jonathan Herman, who worked on Straight Outta Compton, is on board to write the adaptation, and we'll see how this one makes its way through the usual tricky development territory.

Tatum is back on our screens with Logan Lucky next week, and is part of the cast for Kingsman: The Golden Circle, due on 20 September.
