Channing Tatum drawling like he means it. Adam Driver with one arm. Daniel Craig sporting a shocking blond dye job. If Steven Soderbergh wanted to announce his full return to film directing, he couldn't have done it with more flair than the first trailer for Logan Lucky.
A tale of slightly dim and wacky criminals with a grand plan, Logan Lucky stakes its flag firmly in the intersection of Ocean's Eleven and a Coen brothers crime comedy.
The film, written by Rebecca Blunt, follows two brothers, Jimmy (Tatum) and Clyde (Driver) Logan, who hatch an elaborate robbery scheme they plan to pull off during the Coca Cola Cup NASCAR race held at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The loot will be stolen via an elaborate hydraulic tube system under the speedway track, with the race serving as the perfect distraction. Craig, meanwhile, is the expert in blowing up vaults, named, improbably but perfectly, Joe Bang.
Riley Keough, Hilary Swank, Seth MacFarlane, Katie Holmes, Katherine Waterston and Sebastian Stan also feature in Logan Lucky, which is headed to US cinemas on 18 August before landing on UK screens for 25 August.
