Did you suddenly hear Ginuwine’s ‘Pony’ playing from nowhere, as if summoned by some kind of cosmic Alexa? That’s because the news that fans of Channing Tatum and handsome men losing clothes have long been waiting for has finally been announced: there’s a third Magic Mike on the way. Tatum himself confirmed the news with a Twitter post revealing the front page of the script, which suggests a trilogy-capping entry titled Magic Mike’s Last Dance.

There are some interesting tidbits in there too – notably that it confirms Steven Soderbergh will be back as director. He helmed the first film back in 2012, before handing the reins over to Gregory Jacobs for the 2015 sequel Magic Mike XXL. Also returning is writer Reid Carolin who penned both of the previous films, and is the sole scripter here. And as Tatum’s post suggests, the film is intended for the HBO Max streaming service.

Beyond that, little is known – but it’s going to be a busy year for Tatum, who also has his directorial debut Dog on the writer (in which he also stars and produces), followed by The Lost City (formerly known as The Lost City Of D). Be sure to stock up on velcro-laden rip-off trousers before the rush kicks in.
