Dragging a project from decades of development and finally putting it on screen doesn't always work out as hoped – just ask the people behind last year's Gemini Man. But the producers of Bob The Musical are hoping for better results, especially now that Channing Tatum is on board to star and produce.
Long squatting in Disney's To Make folder, Bob tells the story of a regular guy who, after a blow to the head, suddenly can hear the inner songs of everyone’s heart as his reality is instantly turned into a musical, much to his dismay.
The script has been though the hands of Michael Chabon, Alan Loeb, Mike Bender, John August and Lowell Ganz & Babaloo Mandel, among others, with Mark Waters and Adam Shankman, Phil Lord & Chris Miller and Michel Hazanavicius all flirting with the director's chair. Flight Of The Conchords' Bret McKenzie, Marc Shaiman and Frozen duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez have all been hired at different points to craft the score and songs and Tom Cruise was considering the lead at the same time Hazanavicius was on to direct.
With a new actor attached, Disney has kicked off the hunt for yet another director, so now we all get wait and see if it finally becomes a real film.
