Spike Lee is an even busier man than usual, doing the rounds of Oscar campaigning thanks to his latest, BlacKkKlansman. But that isn't stopping him from setting up his next movie, Da 5 Bloods, which will feature Chadwick Boseman amongst its ensemble.
Delroy Lindo and Jean Reno are also making deals to appear in the film, which started as an original screenplay by Danny Bilson and Paul DeMeo that has since seen rewrites from Matthew Billingsley. The story follows Vietnam veterans on a journey back into the jungle, looking to find their lost innocence.
Netflix, which already works with Lee on the TV adaptation of his film She's Gotta Have It, made a big offer to take the script off the table after the director started pitching it to various studios. The aim is to have the cameras cranking this spring.
Boseman, who may – or may not, you don't know what'll happen* – be back as Black Panther in Avengers: Endgame (out 25 April) will also be the lead in 17 Bridges, headed our way on 23 August.
*He will.
