Normally found stealing sketches and creating characters on Saturday Night Live, Cecily Strong has also been scoring film roles. She's now locking down what could be her highest profile job yet, joining Jessica Chastain in comedy Plus One.
April Prosser's script finds Chastain as a single woman, who, finding that her girlfriend pool is contracting as all the people she's closest to are getting married, decides that she'll find someone new to be her wingman – or wing woman – when she's out on the dating scene. She finds an unlikely accomplice in Strong's loud live wire.
Patrick Brice, who last made The Overnight, is in the director's chair with this one backed by Gloria Sanchez Productions, the sister company to Adam McKay and Will Ferrell's Gary Sanchez that focus on female-led film and TV projects. There's no studio attached yet, but the rights will be up for grab at the Cannes Film Market.
Strong will next be seen in Melissa Mccarthy's The Boss (due June 10) and also appears alongside the actress for a small role in the new Ghostbusters, which is out on July 15.
