CCH Pounder

Putting all the pieces he needs in places, James Cameron has been busy recruiting cast for the Avatar sequels. He's adding another veteran of the original, with CCH Pounder due to return as Mo'at.

The Tsahik, or spiritual leader of the Omaticaya Clan, she's the psychic bridge to Na'vi beliefs and Neytiri's (Zoe Saldana) mother.

What she'll be up to in the sequels is anyone's guess, but we'd guess she'll still be the wise voice of reason and tough as hell.

Cameron, with the scripts in hand, has been in pre-production on the movies for months now, looking to shoot in New Zealand and in Los Angeles for the majority of the performance capture work starting September. Not much is known about the plots for the movies, but they'll each tell a story that links together into a wider arc.

Saldana, Sam Worthington, Joel David Moore, Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver are also all back, with Cliff Curtis and Oona Chaplin as new recruits for the movies. The first sequel is set for 18 December 2020.
