More Cast For New Year's Eve

We already knew that Lea Michele and Abigail Breslin had signed on for the follow-up to the gloopy ensemble rom-com Valentine's Day, but now word has it that New Year's Eve** has gained Jessica Biel and Sofia Vergara{ =nofollow}.

Somewhere along the line, following in the tradition of its predecessor's enormous cast, the film has also picked up Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank and Ashton Kutcher (although none of them have quite signed on the line yet).

New Year's Eve will be another set of intertwining romantic stories, set this time in New York rather than LA. While obviously sharing Valentine's Day's DNA (it's once again written by Katherine Fugate and directed by Garry Marshall), it's not a sequel in the usual sense, with the returning Kutcher and Biel paying different characters to the last time. The only new story details so far concern Biel's character: she's a pregnant woman trying to win a prize for being first to give birth on New Year's Day. Plenty of scope, we're suggesting, for hilarious inducement shenanigans involving sex, pineapple and hot curry.

Shooting is set to start imminently for a release next December.
