After a year of silence, The Lincoln Lawyer is picking up clients left, right and center. Last week we reported that Marisa Tomei would be joining Matthew McConaughey in the adaptation of Michael Connelly's bestselling thriller. Now it transpires they'll be joined by Ryan Philippe, William H Macy and Michael Pena.
In the director's chair is Brad Furman, who previously brought us the LA heist drama The Take. Lionsgate have picked the film up for distribution.
Tommy Lee Jones had been earmarked at one point as director and co-star, but left after not very long due to the usual "creative differences". Macy will take the role he would have played, according to Variety, although we still don't know what that role actually is. McConaughey is shabby detective Micky Haller, whose office if the Lincoln town car of the title. Tomei is his ex-wife, prosecuting attorney Maggie McPherson. We assume that Philippe has scored the role of Louis Ross Roulet, the rich LA playboy whose case Haller takes. Which we reckon leaves the smaller roles of prosecutor Ted Minton and Haller's friend and colleague Raul Levin for Macy and Pena.
The screenplay is by John Romano (Intolerable Cruelty) and shooting is set to start in July.
