Warner Bros. already has one talented Affleck on its roster. Now it’s looking to develop a closer business relationship with the other one. Casey Affleck and writer Chuck Maclean have sold a thriller pitch called Boston Strangler to the studio.
Unsurprisingly, the film would focus on the search for the notorious killer who haunted the Boston area during the 1960s. Described as a Zodiac-style thriller, the script is set to focus on the detectives tasked with tracking down the person responsible. Our hero – to be played by Affleck, if it all comes together – is an ambitious detective willing to risk his career and life battling a political cover-up to find the true killer.
In a time when the authorities were happy to pin the Strangler’s slayings on one man, the officer will try to prove that they’ve got the wrong suspect.
Maclean, who has previous written the likes of **Bridges On The Fort Point **and Storming Las Vegas, is set to craft the script. In addition to acting, Affleck will be executive producer.
Affleck The Younger will next be seen in Ain’t Them Bodies Saints (which is now headed for Sundance), thriller Out Of The Furnace and Paul Haggis’ The Third Person.
