If you were to attach a brain-probe to Ron Burgundy’s head while he slept in his apartment full of leather-bound books, you might see some awful, disturbing things. But you could also catch a glimpse of something that looks a lot like the trailer for Casa de mi Padre (House of My Father) dug up by the gang at Gordon and the Whale, which finds Will Ferrell in OTT form even when he’s speaking entirely in Spanish. Don’t believe us? Take a look below.
Casa – or, as the IMDB still likes to call it, Untitled Spanish Comedy – finds Ferrell as Armando Alvarez, who has been running his father’s ranch for years. The business has suddenly fallen on hard times, so it seems fortuitous that the younger Alvarez brother, Raul (Diego Luna) shows up after making his name as an international businessman and promises to clear the debts. But when Armando falls for Raul’s beautiful fiancée, Sonia (the superbly named Genesis Rodriguez), a rift develops. And Raul’s business contacts turn out to be slightly dodgier than anyone suspected, which plunges the family into a conflict with Mexico’s deadliest drug lord, Onza (Gael Garcia Bernal).
We’re promised a plethora of delights, including, but not limited to, guns, adventure, sex and special effects. Frankly, it looks hilarious. Have a peek at the trailer and let us know if you agree.
There’s no release date set for this one yet, which was directed by Funny or Die veteran Matt Piedmont. But you can bet we’ll be trying to find out when we can see it.
