Looking for all the world like a cross between E.T. (unusual creature helps a vehicle move) and Jaws (just look at the beastie – he's like a friendly octo-shark!), Monster Trucks is aiming squarely at the family-friendly CG/live-action adventure audience, and has now put its first trailer online.
Directed by Ice Age veteran Chris Wedge, Monster Trucks finds X-Men: Apocalypse's Lucas Till as Tripp, a disaffected young man mired in mild misbehaviour and looking for away to escape his dreary life and annoying step dad. He potentially finds it when he stumbles across a creature from a subterranean world that has been orphaned and needs him as much as he needs it.
But with a mercenary squad on the hunt for the creature and his family, it'll take Tripp, new pal Meredith (Jane Levy) and some other friends to make sure the monsters in the trucks don't end up as either part of an experiment or the world's widest sushi...
With Thomas Lennon, Holt McCallany, Amy Ryan and Barry Pepper in the cast, Monster Trucks will be out next year.
