We already know that Hunger director Steve McQueen and star Michael Fassbender are planning to reunite for a new project called Shame, but now it would appear that they’ve snagged Carey Mulligan and James Badge Dale to join the cast.
The Irish Film and Television Network casually drops a mention of the two new likely additions in a story about Fassbender and McQueen.
Shame follows Brandon (Fassbender) a New York 30-something struggling with sex addiction and reaching out to family and co-workers for help.
The Playlist were the first to spot the report, and are taking guesses that Mulligan could be up for the role of Sissy, Brandon’s troubled sister, while Badge Dale sounds likely for the man’s boss.
None of this is 100% quite official yet, since Mulligan is a woman in great demand, though most of the films in her future, such as Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby are so far still at script stage. Which means she’ll probably have time to squeeze Shame in when it shoots in January once Fassbender is free from Magneto’s clutches after working on X-Men: First Class.
Badge Dale, meanwhile, has risen to prominence more on the small screen than the big of late, scoring solid roles and no little acclaim for his work in The Pacific and AMC’s recent conspiracy drama Rubicon.
