We already have one person playing Gloria Steinem in a film – that would be Julianne Moore, signed on to My Life On The Road. Now we have another, as Carey Mulligan is reuniting with her Mudbound director Dee Rees for An Uncivil War.
The movie will chronicle the battle to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, which saw Steinem, activist lawyer Florynce "Flo" Kennedy, and other leaders of the Women's movement going up against conservative organiser Phyllis Schlafly. David Kukoff wrote the original draft of the script, which Rees has since worked on with the backing of FilmNation Entertainment.
Rees is busy locking down the rest of the cast and is aiming to kick off shooting early next year. As for Mudbound, it'll be out on limited release here and also hits Netflix on 17 November.
In addition to that film, Mulligan will be seen in miniseries Collateral and Wildlife.
