Superheroes and their attendant movie franchise might be the biggest employer of actors at the moment, but with several people attached to play war reporters, it looks like going into battle for a based-on-truth story is quickly becoming another popular destination. The latest to sign up is Carey Mulligan, who will star in On The Other Side.

The eventual film will be based on Kate Webb's 1972 tome On The Other Side: 23 Days With The Vietcong, which chronicles the trailblazing journalist who was filing stories in Vietnam when she was captured and spent 23 days of harrowing imprisonment. She emerged from the jungles with one of the most unlikely stories of the conflict.

"I'm so excited to bring Kate Webb's remarkable story to the screen. Her integrity, curiosity about the unknown and tenacity set her apart from many other journalists of her time and ultimately saved her life," Mulligan says in a Statement carried by The Hollywood Reporter. "In a world of increasing division, I can't think of a more relevant character to portray today — someone who's very survival depended on her desire to understand the other side of the story, to obtain the truth and to report it faithfully. It is an honor to embark on this project with such a talented team of producers."

Mulligan will also produce the film and it should kick off shooting early next year. The actress will next show up in indie drama Mudbound and worked on Paul Dano's directorial debut Wildlife
