Look out lads! The wimmins is coming for our superhero movies! Blithely ignoring the manufactured outrage and negativity spewed online, Captain Marvel proved to be another success story for Marvel Studios and Disney. The latest hero to join the team saw her solo debut soar to $153 million in the US alone, according to studio estimates.

Worldwide, the movie has made more than $455 million in just one weekend, pointing to a successful run. That's especially likely given that the film has no direct comicbook competition until Shazam! arrives in early April.

Predictably, there was no competition for the MCU's latest behemoth, so the rest of the chart is a juggle of current titles. How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World was pushed to second place, adding $14.6 million, and crossing the $100 million mark in its second weekend of release. Tyler Perry's latest, A Madea Family Funeral, slipped to third on $12 million. The Lego Movie 2 stayed clicked in place at fourth, earning $3.8 million, while Alita: Battle Angel fell a couple of places, landing fifth via $3.2 million.

Sixth place once again belonged to Best Picture winner Green Book, which added $2.48 million, with Isn't It Romantic holding on to seventh and $2.4 million. Wrestling comedy drama Fighting With My Family was grappled down to eighth, taking $2.18 million, ahead of Greta at ninth and $2.16 million. Finally, astro-doc Apollo 11 expanded its release and rocketed into the top 10, earning $1.3 million.
