It’s been nearly three months since the first Captain Marvel trailer dropped, near breaking the internet in the process. And now Carol Danvers is about to do it all over again – the second trailer for Brie Larson’s big-screen debut as one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most powerful heroes is due to drop this Tuesday. And to tide you all over until then, a brand new poster has arrived – one bursting with vibrant colours and cosmic rays. It’s a striking palette for Marvel, and one that promises a bold new voice in the MCU.
The film is primarily set in 1995, and will plunge viewers into the Kree-Skrull war – a major conflict from Marvel’s comics. Carol Danvers is a former American fighter pilot, who becomes imbued with a host of interstellar powers and joins the Kree military as part of Starforce. Captain Marvel is expected to explore her mysterious origins, but won’t be a traditional origin story movie. Her arrival comes just in time for Danvers to (hopefully) help save the day in Avengers 4 – in the closing moments of Infinity War (SPOILER WARNING), Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury messaged Captain Marvel on a beeper as a final plea for help.
And speaking of Avengers 4, internet rumour has it that the trailer for that hugely-awaited sequel could be arriving at some point this week after the Captain Marvel trailer, likely on Wednesday. There’s no official word on that yet, but we’ll be willing it to be true with every fibre of our beings.
