As the film trundles through pre-production with Nia DaCosta in the director's chair, the Captain Marvel sequel's cast is coming together. Zawe Ashton is now, according to Deadline, set as the film's villain.
With WandaVision writer Megan McDonell on script duty, Brie Larson will return to the lead as Carol Danvers, still using her immense powers to help people. The actual story is naturally being kept a mystery by Team Marvel for now, but we do know that WandaVision's Teyonah Parris is on as the grown Monica Rambeau (and it sounds like she might have some issues with Carol given what we've seen in the show), while Iman Vellani, AKA Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (with her own shown filming now) is also due to crop up.
We'll have to wait and see how Ashton's antagonist fits into the plot, and the movie itself is due to arrive in November 2022.
Ashton is known for university comedy-drama Fresh Meat and films such as Velvet Buzzsaw, *Nocturnal Animals* and Greta.
