We’ve had an all-too brief look at footage from Marvel/Paramount’s Captain America: The first Avenger thanks to the Super Bowl spot that arrived in February, but now the full trailer has come online courtesy of Marvel.

We’re introduced to scrawny shrimp Steve Rogers (Chris Evans, thanks to the magic of CG trickery), a frail sort who wants nothing more than to get out on the field of combat and fight for his country against the Nazis. Unfortunately, he’s sickly and quickly rejected by recruitment officers around the country. Until, that is, General Chester Phillips (Tommy Lee Jones, whose speech to the troops narrates most of the trailer) offers him the chance to become a guinea pig for Operation: Rebirth. This secret experiment sees Rogers pumped full of a Super-Soldier Serum and exposed to vita-rays that turn him into a near-perfect example of human ability.

He’s stronger and faster than anyone else and becomes Captain America, hero of World War Two. But the Nazis, including devious scientist Johann Schmidt (Hugo Weaving) have their own technology…

Captain America: The First Avenger also features Stanley Tucci, Hayley Atwell, Richard Armitage, Dominic Cooper and Sebastian Stan. The new footage offers a look at what will be on offer when July 29 rolls around (July 22 if you live in the US).
