Olivier Dahan brings the royal magic

Cannes 2013: Nicole Kidman's Grace Kelly

Nicole Kidman is on the Cannes jury this year, which means we won't get to see much of her on the croisette. Still, it feels like she's out and about, which may have something to do with the huge poster slapped across the side of the Hotel Renoir or, perhaps, the arrival of these three photos from THR that show Ms. Kidman as Grace Kelly in Olivier Dahan's biopic Grace Of Monaco.

The stills show that La Vie En Rose director hasn't concentrated too much on making the Australian actress look the spitting-image of the late princess, instead working on her "essence".

Dahan has previously said that this isn't a straight biopic but more of an "art movie", so don't expect any detailed insight into how **To Catch A Thief **was put together or whether she showered before or after she ate breakfast. Rounding out the cast are Tim Roth as Prince Rainier III and Robert Lindsay as Aristotle Onassis, with the plot firmly centred on the actress-turned-royal's days in the famous principality.

Unfortunately for the Grace Of Monaco team, they weren't able to get the film ready in time for Cannes, meaning that the world will have to wait until the December / January awards season to see how Kidman captures Kelly's princess-iness. British cinemagoers should pencil in January 10 for the time being.
