A remake of 1966 Sci-Fi classic Fantastic Voyage has been mooted several times over recent years and now, Independence Dayproducer Dean Devlin's proposed effort has also been taken off the board. But fans of the miniaturised exploration adventure shouldn't break down just yet, according to Devlin, Titanic director James Cameron is picking up the ball. "Cameron is doing Fantastic Voyage now," Devlin told Sci-Fi Wire. "Unfortunately for us, but I think he's going to do a great job. It's one of those things, if anyone is going to do a project you wanted to do, you'd rather it be [him]. If it's Cameron, Spielberg, Zemeckis, you kind of go, 'OK, fine!'" The original Fantastic Voyage took a revolutionary approach to microsurgery when a team of surgeons are miniaturised and injected into the body of an important diplomat, fighting for his life after an assassination attempt. Sailing forth in their microscopic sub, the team finds their mission of mercy compromised by the discovery that a saboteur is among them.
