Though it looked for a while as though Reese Witherspoon might be headed for raunchy comedy territory in Sex Tape alongside Jason Segel, she’s dropped out. Now Segel and Jake Kasdan – who took over directorial duties last year – have a new potential co-star in mind, as Cameron Diaz is in talks.
If she signs, the move would see the trio reunite after Diaz and Segel acted in Kasdan’s last comedy, Bad Teacher.
This time around, they’d play an established couple, who have been married with kids for a while and decide the time is right to spice up their love life. With the ankle biters packed off elsewhere, they make a sexy tape, only for the recording to go missing so that they have to head out on a quest to get it back.
Diaz has been linked with the film for a while, but formal negotiations are only now winding up. She’ll next be seen in Ridley Scott’s** The Counselor **(we saw some clips from that in Fox’s big CinemaCon presentation) and is set to work on The Other Woman with Kate Upton and Leslie Mann. Segel, meanwhile, will crop up briefly in This Is The End alongside Seth Rogen and almost everyone they've ever worked with. The apocalyptic comedy is due here on June 28.
