When she’s not busy snogging vampires and other associated supernatural types on True Blood, Anna Paquin is keeping her film career ticking over – and now she’s moving into producing as well as starring with indie drama Free Ride. She’s just scored a co-star for the film, in the shape of Cam Gigandet.
Free Ride, which is based on a true story, will see Paquin as an abused single mother in the 1970s fleeing to Florida with her two daughters in order to start a new life for herself. Gigandet will be playing her love interest as she explores the new possibilities open to her.
Shana Sosin has written the script and aims to kick off directing the film later this month in Florida.
Gigandet was most recently seen in the distinctly dodgy duo of The Roommate and Priest, and has Joel Schumacher’s Trespass due for release over here on November 11. Paquin, meanwhile, cropped up in Kenneth Lonergan’s long-delayed Margaret and is shooting Straight A’s alongside Ryan Phillippe and Luke Wilson.
