Lovers of handsome Irish actors rejoice – Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson are starring in a film together. At last! The announcement came through this morning that the pair of leading men are to team up for Seraphim Falls, a film set at the end of the (presumably American, though it hasn't been specified) Civil War.
According to Variety, the 'psychological actioner' focuses on a Colonel who, as everyone else is throwing down their arms, hunts down an old adversary to settle a grudge. Did these two fight on the same side? What is said grudge? Will there be lots of running through forested areas with shirts off? Short answer: we don't know yet. Details are still sketchy, but we do know that it's been written and will be directed by first time feature filmmaker David Von Ancken, who's come to the big screen via such TV series as The Shield, and CSI: NY.
It'll be put together and funded by Icon films, and is due to start shooting in mid October. Which is, we think you'll agree, not too far away. Word has it that Neeson has come aboard the project not only because of its undoubted quality, but also because it nicely fills a gap in his schedule before he commences on Spielberg's Abraham Lincoln biopic. Brosnan will be back on screens shortly in The Matador, and has recently signed on for Thomas Crown sequel-of-sorts, The Topkapi Affair, which is set to commence next year.
Given the projects' speedy green light, you can expect to be hearing a more about this in the coming months. Hopefully this will involve appealing on-set photos, but we make no promises.
