The gloves are off in a war of words between Kevin Smith and Tim Burton over the ending of Burton's latest movie Planet of the Apes, which some might think was influenced by an image in one of Smith's issues of the Jay and Silent Bob comic. Encouraged by a posting on his website on the subject, Smith replied saying, 'Believe me - I contemplated legal action.' Burton was quick to defend his creation, telling the New York Post, 'I have not seen the image and anybody that knows me knows I do not read comic books. And I especially wouldn't read anything that was created by Kevin Smith.' Now Burton's catty remark surely wouldn't have anything to do with the way Smith described Burton's opus by telling fans not to look at the image in question, 'if you don't want the ending spoiled (as if that would somehow "ruin" a movie that's so bad to start with).' Ladies!
