Having made the leap from overseeing Laika's animated output (though he's still involved) to directing live-action with Bumblebee, Travis Knight is adding to his list of potential new projects. The latest is vampire action thriller Uprising.
The film has been in development for a while now, with Shawn Levy originally producing it at Fox. It has since moved to Netflix, but is still based on Raymond Villareal's book A People’s History Of The Vampire Uprising. Jeremy Slater is the latest writer to work on the script, which is set after a global viral outbreak (yeesh) that turns people into vampires.
Our main figure here is CIA agent Lauren Webb, who must work against the clock to uncover a growing uprising that threatens humanity.
As for Knight, he's also attached to direct a Six Billion Dollar Man film for Warners.
