The odd couple / action comedy genre is clearly headed for a big return to form, between the likes of this year’s **The Bounty Hunter **and Knight And Day, the developing **Midnight Run sequel and now a reunion for T****he Proposal’**s stars Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock for.
And it doesn’t stop there: the team behind the camera (director Anne Fletcher, writer Peter Chiarelli and the producers) are all returning for the new project.
Talking of Bounty Hunter, the new film has a similar-sounding plot, with Bullock as a criminal suspect being transported to court in the care of Reynolds’ FBI agent. When they’re ambushed, they have to go on the run.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the only element that won’t be the same this time around is studio Disney, since while the filmmakers offered the Mouse a first bite of this new cinematic cheese, the freshly re-organised studio has turned it down, preferring to stick with family–driven franchises.
So Universal will be behind this one, winning out a rights battle and agreeing to produce the thing.
There’s no word on when Most Wanted will start shooting, since despite it boasting a pre-recruited creative team, everyone involved is busy with other projects. That means it’ll likely have to wait until later this year or early next for the cameras to crank. And all we need to know now is: will Betty White play a criminal mastermind? You know it makes sense…
