If you’ve seen Kill List or the original (cruelly cancelled) Channel 4 version of Utopia, you know not to cross Neil Maskell when he’s in a bad mood. The British actor has doled out all kinds of pain and punishment on screen, and in upcoming revenge thriller Bull he’s ready to dish out a fresh batch of bruises and blows. It’s the new film from BAFTA-winning British writer-director Paul Andrew Williams (previously behind the likes of London To Brighton, and acclaimed TV movie Murdered By My Boyfriend) and it stars Maskell as the titular, mysterious Bull – a man returning home after 10 years away with bloodshed on his mind, having been left for dead a decade previously. Safe to say, this is one Bull you won’t want to wave a red flag at. Watch the trailer exclusively here.

Maskell is a master at portraying wounded masculinity and unpredictable intensity – and it looks like both of those are in full effect in Williams’ film, with woozy, hypnotic imagery to match. Also starring are David Hayman and Tamzin Outhwaite. Take a look at the poster here:

Here’s the official synopsis: “After a 10-year absence, former gang enforcer Bull returns to his old haunts to find his missing son and seek revenge on those who double crossed him and left him for dead. Painful secrets from the past will soon be revealed and like a man possessed, Bull will stop at nothing to get back at those who must atone for their sins.” The official UK release date for Bull is yet to be announced – but keep an eye out for it coming soon to a screen near you.
