After spending two movies running away from dinosaurs ('must go faster!') in Jurassic World, Bryce Dallas Howard has lined up a new role ahead of Jurassic World 3 with a lower danger quotient – and possibly a spot of singing. According to Variety, the actor is joining Rocketman, Dexter Fletcher’s Elton John musical biopic charting the singer-songwriter’s rise to fame.

Howard is set to take on the role of John’s mum, Sheila, who primarily raised him as a child and helped inspire his love of music. John himself will be played by Taron Egerton, re-teaming with Dexter Fletcher who directed him in Eddie The Eagle, while Jamie Bell has signed on to play John’s musical collaborator Bernie Taupin. Former Game of Thrones star Richard Madden will play John’s manager John Reid.

Fletcher has previous musical form – not only did he direct The Proclaimers jukebox musical Sunshine On Leith, but he helped finish up Bryan Singer’s Freddie Mercury film Bohemian Rhapsody when the original director left the shoot early. However, Singer will be the sole credited director on Rhapsody’s release. Rocketman will come from Matthew Vaughn’s new Marv Films studio, and according to Vaughn the film will be “the first R-rated musical”, with “drugs, sex, rock’n’roll”. But no dinosaurs.
