The march of big names headed to web series continues apace. Just this week, thefirst teaser arrived for Tom Hanks’ Electric City and now, from X-Men director Bryan Singer, comes H+. The trailer is available to watch below.

H+ is set in a future world where technology has infiltrated even further into our lives thanks to the new device offered by high-tech company Hplus Nano Teoranta. The widget promises to connect the brain to the Internet in a way never dreamed about, even in our time of iPads and Androids. But while this seems like a great idea at first, the big problem hits when a virus is released on to the system, one that kills a third of the world’s population instantly.

With civilization rocked by the tragedy, a group of characters must deal with the huge political and human changes that follow.

Singer seems a much more likely person to be embracing this than even Hanks, and with the backing of Warner Bros. digital company, it’s got a heftier budget than most web series, which means more scope and a film-sized cast. Familiar faces include Buffy / Angel veteran Alexis Denisof, and the script is by John Cabrera & Cosimo De Tommaso, who co-created the concept.

Singer sticks to producing, leaving the megaphone wrangling up to Stewart Handler.

The series will premiere on August 8 and release episodes every Wednesday. Comic-Con attendees will be treated to a screening at the event on Friday, July 13, which also includes a Q&A with some of the cast and crew. There are more details at the series' Facebook page.
