Paz Vega and Daniel Bruhl both look likely to star in** Castro's Daughter**, the story of the exiled Alina Fernandez. Based on her Exile's Memoir of Cuba, the film will be directed by Bobby Moresco, who co-wrote Crash with Paul Haggis.

Fernandez is the illegitimate daughter of Fidel Castro, and one of his most vocal critics. Her dissenting political views led her to flee Cuba, heavily disguised, in 1993. She's been living in Miami ever since, where her otherwise middle-of-the-road Simply Alina radio show devotes every Wednesday evening to Cuban politics.

The Cuban-American playwrite Nilo Cruz has co-written the script with Moresco. Vega was the star of Julio Medem's brilliant Sex and Lucia, and also showed up in Talk to Her, Fade to Black and The Spirit.** **Bruhl was most recently seen shooting from a belltower in Inglourious Basterds but we also loved him in The Edukators and Goodbye Lenin.

A cast to get excited about then, assuming they both sign on the dotted line. Shooting starts in Puerto Rico in the spring.
