A serious bidding war swept Hollywood this week, with Warner Bros, Paramount and Disney battling it out for an as-yet unpublished children's book from first-time author Ahmet Zappa. The book, Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless was finally nabbed by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films for $1.5 million.
The story follows a young brother and sister who discover that their family come from a long line of monster hunters. The pair – as you'd expect from siblings – argue constantly, but have to work together to fight "the most diabolical creature in the universe".
The film is due to be published next August, with full colour illustrations also by Zappa (youngest son of the late rock star Frank Zappa). Bruckheimer is set to produce the film, so expect lots of explosions and quite a bit of slo-mo.
