Bruce Willis On For Violet & Daisy?

Given that Geoffrey Fletcher won an Oscar this year for writing Precious, you might think he’d be slightly happy. Well, imagine how he feels now that his directorial debut, girl power road movie Violet & Daisy has not only has Carey Mulligan and Saoirse Ronan interested in the lead roles but is close to scoring both Bruce Willis and Danny Trejo.

While Mulligan and Ronan remain on the rumour list (they’re listed by the LA Times as “attached”, but we can find no formal announcement), Willis is in talks to board the movie, which is described as a blend of Thelma & Louise meets Superbad with a side order of** Pulp Fiction**. There’s no more info about it so far, though we take the description to mean lots of action, two feisty young heroines and some trouble with either the law or men. Or both.

Willis’ involvement comes about partly because producer Bonnie Timmerman has joined the film, and she’s been a friend to Bruce since getting him one of his earliest gigs on TV, back when she was a casting director on Miami Vice and he was a struggling young actor with more hair. Not much more, but some.

If Violet & Daisy gets shooting this autumn with that cast firmly in place, we’re excited to see the results.
