It’s been something of an open secret for a while now that Jon M Chu and the producers of what is now called G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation have been itching to sign Bruce Willis up to play a role. Now it looks like their casting wishes have come true, as he’s in talks to sign on.
If he locks in a deal, Willis will play General Joe Colton, the man who formed the team in the first place and was given the codename G.I. Joe.
Since the plot is still being kept largely a secret, there’s no word in the Hollywood Reporter’s story as to whether that means he’ll be seen in flashbacks or if he’ll fight alongside the likes of Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, Joseph Mazzello, Elodie Yung, Ray Park and Adrianne Palicki against the evils of Cobra. Also in the movie are Ray Stevenson, RZA and Arnold Vosloo.
Chu will kick off shooting on the movie later this month in New Orleans, getting ready for a June 2012 release date.
Wills, meanwhile, has finished work on Fire With Fire, Looper, Lay the Favourite and The Cold Light of Day and may well crop up in **The Expendables **2.
