While Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller have been on something of a casting spree recently for** Sin City** sequel A Dame To Kill For (just yesterday, they broke word of new recruits Ray Liotta, Juno Temple and Jeremy Piven) one big name from the first film has been absent: Bruce Willis. Well, fret no more Hartigan fans, because the disgraced cop will be back in some fashion.
Hartigan, as you may recall, was the police officer framed for child killings who broke out of the slammer to aid Nancy (Jessica Alba). Yes, he seemingly met his end in the original Sin City, but part of **A Dame To Kill For **will be adapted from Just Another Saturday Night, which focuses on Mickey Rourke’s Marv but also takes place during Hartigan and Nancy’s story, so he’ll be back.
Also in the MTV video (which doesn’t work in the UK thanks to geolocking) Rodriguez talked a little more about Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character, Johnny. "It's a new character. He plays a gambler, a very cocky gambler, who comes in and tries to beat the biggest villain in Sin City at his own game,” says the co-writer/director. “The story's called The Long, Bad Night. He beats the wrong guy in a game and bad stuff happens to him.”
Rourke, Alba, Rosario Dawson and Jaime King are the other returning veterans, who will be joined by new faces including Jamie Chung, Josh Brolin and Dennis Haysbert.
With the cameras rolling right now, US audiences will see Sin City: A Dame To Kill For on October 4, but we’re still waiting for a UK date.
