Bruce Willis is something of a busy boy at the moment. The Die Hard star is currently preparing to shoot the Kevin Smith-directed action comedy, A Couple Of Dicks ,but before that he has the small matter of choosing his next project. And he’s got three potential movies to choose from.
First up is an offer on the table from Summit to star in Red, an action thriller about a former CIA black-ops agent who is forced back into action when a hitman targets both him and his girlfriend. Based on a DC/Wildstorm comic book, it seems pretty far along, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian producing, while Richard Donner tops a list of potential directors.
However, the Hollywood Reporter’s Risky Biz blog is saying that Willis and Summit are in talks, although those talks “could yet break off”. Frankly, we don’t know if we can stand the tension any more – our fingernails are chewed down to the quick.
Second on Bruce’s big list of future movies is Inventory, a NuImage/Millennium movie in which Willis would play a cop on the trail of a murderer. Of course, Willis has made movies like that before, so we’re sure that there’s more than meets the eye about both that and Red, beyond the rather rote one-line descriptions.
At the moment, Willis looks likely to choose from Red or Inventory, with the chances that he’ll plump for Antoine Fuqua’s mob biopic, Scarpa, apparently receding into the distance. Scarpa would see Willis reteam with his** Tears Of The Sun** director to play Greg Scarpa, an FBI informant lodged deep within a New York mob family. The Hollywood Reporter is fairly confident that Willis won’t make that movie, which seems like a shame, as it appears to be the most original of the bunch.
We’ll keep you posted on Willis’ choices as he makes them. Obviously, we’re going to focus on these movie-related choices and not more mundane affairs, such as whether he’ll have fish or chicken for lunch. But we recommend the chicken.
