Bruce Willis On For American Assassin

He'll be a CIA agent

Bruce Willis On For American Assassin

Someone needs to have a talk with Bruce Willis about his bullet obsession. The man rarely seems to appear in a film without some sort of sidearm. Now entering talks to star in American Assassin won’t help with that condition.

Adapted by Mike Finch from Vince Flynn’s series of books about hero Mitch Rapp, **American **Assassin has been through at least one director already, with Ed Zwick signing on then dropping off and Jeffrey Nachmanoff taking over.

The plot – which is taken from the eponymous 11th Rapp book set during the CIA operative’s younger days – will see Rapp (still to be cast) joining up at Langley when his girlfriend is killed in a terrorist attack. Willis will be an old hand at the Agency who serves as his mentor.

According to Variety, Willis has been considering the offer for a while now, but has decided to take the leap, which means that CBS Films and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura can start the search for the right Rapp. We’ve got the news story marked “American Assassin Finds New Rapp Star” loaded and ready to go, because our Joke-Fu is just that good / cheesy*.

Willis will, of course, be back on the run from the CIA when he kicks off shooting the Red sequel next month in Montreal. But before that, he’ll show up in Rian Johnson’s long-anticipated (and now firmly Empire approved) Looper, which hits on September 28 and, yes, features the man with at least one gun.
