Noel Clarke is back. The actor-writer-director stormed onto the British cinema scene with Kidulthood in 2006. He followed it up with Adulthood in 2008. And now he’s back to complete the trilogy, with Brotherhood – the first trailer for which has just dropped.
There’s also an “explicit” trailer, which contains slightly fruitier language and a taste of some of the violence we can expect. ‘Kidults’ – shield your eyes!
Judging by the trailers, Brotherhood finds Clarke’s character Sam on brooding form: on the wrong side of 40, faced with tragedy, he is forced to juggle the realities of family life and the darker elements of his past. He must also learn that nobody says ‘blud’ any more.
As well as starring, Clarke is writing and directing, and has assembled a cast that includes rising Grime star Stormzy, plus the likes of Steven Cree, Olivia Chenery, Tonia Sotiropoulou, Jason Maza, Nick Nevern, Adjoa Andoh, Arnold Oceng, and Ashley Thomas.
