Brie Larson's about to explode back on to our screens, making her debut in the MCU as the title character in Captain Marvel. Yet while she's en route to becoming a superhero star, Larson is also focused on developing her own projects, and has just signed a two-film deal with Netflix, with the idea that she'll star in and possibly direct based-on-truth comedy Lady Business.

The agreement includes binging her directorial debut, Unicorn Store (which she originally auditioned for, but didn't land the lead in until she called the shots on the film), to the streaming service. Written by Samantha McIntyre, the story finds a woman named Kit needing to move back in with her parents and receiving a mysterious invitation to a store that will change her ideas about whether she truly needs to grow up. Larson is in the lead alongside her Marvel co-star Samuel L. Jackson plus Bradley Whitford and Joan Cusack.

Unicorn Store, which will arrive on Netflix on 5 April, was produced by Lynette Howell Taylor, who also worked on a little movie called A Star Is Born. She'll collaborate again with Larson for Lady Business, which adapts a Fast Company article written by John Paul Titlow (you can read it here), and chronicles how entrepreneurs Penelope Gazin and Kate Dwyer had to invent a fictional third male founder to be taken seriously in the business world. Larson is still deciding whether she'll step behind the camera as well as in front of it for that one.

Captain Marvel finally makes it way here on 8 March, followed by Larson mixing it up with the rest of the MCU in Avengers: Endgame, which recently announced a one-day release date switch in the UK to Thursday, 25 April. She'll also be seen in legal drama Just Mercy, out next year.
