Looking to keep diversifying her career between screens both big and small, Brie Larson is setting up another Apple TV drama to follow a still-untitled CIA story. Lessons In Chemistry has Unbelievable's Susannah Grant aboard to run the show.
Lessons In Chemistry is based on an upcoming debut novel from author and science editor Bonnie Garmus. Set in the early 1960s, it follows Elizabeth Zott (Larson), whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a society deeming that women belong in the domestic sphere, not the professional one. When Elizabeth finds herself pregnant, alone, and fired from her lab, she musters the ingenuity only a single mother has. She accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives — and the men who are suddenly listening — a lot more than recipes … All the while craving a return to her true love: science.
Yet we shouldn't expect to see either series very soon – the CIA drama was delayed by the pandemic and Larson's focus right now is gearing up to make Captain Marvel II, with a 2022 release date.
