At this point the Fast & Furious franchise could win some awards for Most Eclectic casting, featuring as it does everyone from Ludacris to Helen Mirren. The latest recruit seems almost as unlikely even given her superhero experience: according to Vin Diesel, Brie Larson will appear in Fast & Furious 10.
In typically florid Diesel style, the man forever known as Dominic Toretto took to Instagram to showcase a smiley picture of himself and the Oscar-winning star of the Captain Marvel movies to announce Larson as the latest name to sign on for motorised madness.
"You have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology," Diesel gushes in the way he does when he's truly excited to announce something new for Fast fans. He offered no details of who Larson might play in the movie, but the engine of speculation is already revving over the idea that she could be part of Cipher's (Charlize Theron)'s criminal team.
The likes of Jason Momoa and The Suicide Squad's Daniela Melchior are already aboard the movie, which Justin Lin will kick off directing soon. This 10th outing is billed as the penultimate entry in the franchise, though of course you just know there could be spin-offs lurking in the development garage to keep the forward momentum going a quarter-mile at a time.
