We've known that Captain Marvel follow-up The Marvels was headed towards production, partly because of A) its planned late 2022 release date and following star Brie Larson's workout schedule on twitter. Now Larson and co-star Samuel L. Jackson have revealed that the cameras are starting to roll on the film.

Despite playing a key role in the 2019 movie, Jackson hadn't been officially announced or confirmed as returning. He took to Instagram, though, to show off Nick Fury's facial hair (albeit before it goes on his face) and a very appropriate T-shirt.

Larson, meanwhile, took part in a Sirius XM interview and talked about the scope of the sequel. "It's a really unique experience. I'm a huge fan of Disneyland, so to me it feels like I get to go to my own private Disneyland every singe day," she says. "Because they're building all of these insane worlds that no one else knows about, no one else gets to see. You'll see it when the movie comes out but for now it's just mine. I'm in sets that are bigger than you can imagine right now. It's really special."

With Candyman's Nia DaCosta in the director's chair and WandaVision's Megan McDonnell on script duty, The Marvels will reunite Larson's Carol Danvers with Monica Rambeau, albeit the adult version played by Teyonah Parris, and sees her join forces with Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), who will be introduced in her own MCU Disney+ series, which currently looks like it'll launch in 2022. Seo Jun Park and Zawe Ashton are also aboard.

The Marvels is currently scheduled to arrive in November 2022.
